Valarie D'Elia has been packing her bags and jumping on airplanes, ships and trains for as long as she can remember. She was born into a family travel business dating back to 1902, when her great-grandfather booked relatives from Italy to Ellis Island in steerage class. Today, she continues the D'Elia travel tradition for a fourth generation as a broadcast travel journalist appearing on several media outlets.

Valarie can currently be heard fielding listeners' questions as the host of The Travel Show on Talkradio 850 WTAR airing Sundays 12PM - 2PM. She can also be seen as the travel correspondent for New York 1 News with her featured segments, Travel with Val. She has appeared occasionally on NBC's Later Today as a travel expert.

Ms. D'Elia spent five years covering the globe for The Travel Channel as a producer/reporter, developing and presenting news and feature reports on hundreds of domestic and international destinations. She was also the host of TWA's monthly in-flight video, Ambassador Theater, a show she also produced.

As the Director of Production for HBO's Visitor Information Network, she was responsible for a hotel channel providing tourist information for guests staying in ten major U.S. cities. Other credits include the Outdoor Life Network, CNBC, CNN's Travel Guide and CNN's Airport Network.

Ms. D'Elia is a member of the Society of American Travel Writers and the North American Snowsports Journalists Association.

Valarie began her broadcast career as a radio news anchor in Miami while a junior at the University of Miami. From there, she went on to anchor and report for several radio stations in the New York metropolitan area before earning her master's degree from the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism.
